Kristi,
We just finished watching “Legacy”. That movie makes me cry every time! With everything that happened to the pioneers, how did they have such great faith? I have been learning about the pioneers a lot lately (probably because it is the Centennial year).
Last Saturday was the Young Women General Conference. It was such a neat experience to sing in the choir! Just thinking of being in the tabernacle sitting right behind the prophet made me feel so lucky and privileged but actually being there, only about 12 ft away from President Gordon B. Hinckley, was better than I ever imagined! It was so neat to be able to feel his presence (before I could even see him) when he walked in the room.
It was great to hear from our General Young Women leaders. They spoke of the pioneers and how much faith they had to have to keep pressing forward in search of Zion and, also, that we should be like the pioneers for those who come after us. After hearing their stories, how can we not try our best? How can we even think that God doesn’t love us when we hear all the miracles that protected them so many times?
I wish I were that close to perfect. I try so hard each day to make better choices than before but every day seems to turn out exactly the same as the last. I’m going to keep on trying, though. Maybe someday I’ll make it. It’s so hard. All I really want out of life is to make my father and mother in heaven, Jesus and all my heavenly brothers and sisters proud of me when I return. I will be happy if I just get that alone.
Love, Melonie
